Over 500 Students Mentored
Since 2010
The Lake Oconee Youth Alliance is dedicated to the empowerment of underserved youth through mentoring programs throughout their educational journey.
Since the program’s creation in 2010, over 500 students have been mentored in a variety of programs offered in the primary/elementary, middle school, and highs school settings. Each of our scholarship recipients also has a dedicated mentor to help guide them throughout their collegiate journey.
Examples of mentorship include college tours, direction and education in navigating the college application process, art expression, guidance in creative writing, trips to concerts, musicals, and plays, occupational and business tours, teaching soft skills, and being a reading pal.
By generous donations of both time and financial support, we’re proud to be able to continue to offer a helping hand to deserving students as they achieve their dreams of college education and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Through the LOYA Mentorship program, caring and committed volunteers build long-term relationships to help support and sustain our students as they move through school, navigate the college application process, and attend college.
Mentorship can take many forms, but some examples include taking students on college tours, direction and education in navigating the college application process, guidance in creative writing, occupational/business tours, teaching soft skills, and being reading pals.
Yes! What helps make LOYA a unique organization is that each LOYA Scholarship student is assigned a dedicated Mentor throughout their college and/or post-secondary experience. We believe this Mentorship is a huge reason our scholarship students have a 93% retention rate, their average GPA is 3.6, and we've had 10 graduations since 2018.
